Never wipe tears with gloves

Recently a societal issue, of importance in this country as well as in others, has been brought to life after a much too long and unhealthy beauty sleep. Sweden has after 30 years initiated a vivid discussion on how LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) people historically have been treated in this country and the stigma that characterize and influence this group even today. The issue has been (re-)highlighted thanks to Jonas Gardell. The author recently released the first book in the self-perceived trilogy Never Wipe Tears Without Gloves. At the same time the incredibly moving, beautiful and tragic TV-series with the same name based on a script by Gardell was shown on one of the country’s public service channels. To emigrate or not to emigrate

The first snow is falling. Not craving for attention but yet perfectly aware of the beautiful scenery they cause, the complex, white crystals slowly fall to the frozen ground. Despite having experienced the drama for many years, I can stand for hours watching this peaceful process. The four seasons, when distinctly shown, is one of the most inspiring aspects of this country. I have, however, always envied people who have a strong connection to another country, being born and raised elsewhere, having relatives abroad or having lived abroad for a long period. These people have always talked about a (second) "homeland" to which they sometime would gladly “return” and genuinely discover. After 32 years in Sweden, I feel less at home than ever. I was born and raised here. Genealogy has proved that my family is of Swedish descent since way back. Regine och Søren

Jag fascineras av relationen mellan Regine och Søren. Av privata skäl och av allmängiltiga skäl. Regine Olsen, född 23 januari 1822, död 18 mars 1904 i Frederiksberg, beskrivs i historien som "mest känd för att under en kort period ha varit förlovad med den nio år äldre danske filosofen Søren Kierkegaard." Mindre än ett år efter att de hade förlovat sig bröt Kierkegaard förlovningen. Ingen vet riktigt varför, men i hans verk antyds att det kan ha berott på att han blev deprimerad när det vanliga livet efter den första stormiga förälskelsen lagt sig. Kierkegaard själv hänvisade i sin journal till den "påle i köttet" som omöjliggjorde äktenskap. Kierkegaard hade varma känslor för Regine i hela sitt liv, och strävade efter att planerat "oplanerat" träffa henne i olika sammanhang.
